The Trial, on SBS

Postby remi_bz on Thu Nov 12, 2009 2:15 pm

On Tuesday, NOV 17th at 7.30pm SBS is screening a documentary about Australia's anti terror laws. SBS have decided not to broadcast THE TRIAL in Victoria due to an upcoming trial.

THE TRIAL is the inside story of Australia's largest terrorism trial which ran from February 2008 until the delivery of verdicts in September 2008. Produced by 360 Degree Films for SBS TV, THE TRIAL takes the audience behind the scenes in the Supreme Court of Victoria as barrister Greg Barns and solicitor Robert Stary battle to defend their clients. The trial ran for nine months, involved 12 accused men, 25 lawyers and 482 secretly recorded conversations.

360 Degree Films produced this documentary about the Melbourne terrorism trial to generate public debate on these issues and the role of the law in preventing terrorism in Australia.

This is an important film for everyone concerned about human rights and how Australia deals with the very real threat posed by Islamic terrorism.

THE TRIAL features music by David Bridie.
